Parents Involved in Education, Survey RFP

The PEI Home and School Federation developed a survey in 2008 to determine various aspects to parental involvement in their child’s education.  The survey summary results are available for review.

The Federation is currently wanting to do a follow-up Parent Engagement Survey to collect data on how parents are involved in education and learning of children and youth in PEI.   The information will influence activities in coming years in the Federation and Local Associations.

Those interested in responding to the RFP should download the application package.

Deadline for submissions:  Sept. 24/12

Parental Engagement Initiative

In response to the recommendations by the Task Force on Student Achievement, the Minister of Education asked the Prince Edward Island Home and School Federation (HSF) to lead the development of a province-wide Parental Engagement (PE) Initiative. This request represents a strong endorsement of Home and School Associations by the provincial government and recognizes our emerging role as a learning and teaching partner in the education system on Prince Edward Island. The overall vision of the PE initiative is to establish collaborative home and school learning environments for our children so that they can succeed as individuals, as students and as citizens.

CyberBullying Project

Parents Need to be Aware that Bullying Has Gone Hi-Tech

The Prince Edward Island Home and School Federation thanks you for this opportunity to come and present our concerns and ideas on an issue that is becoming increasingly serious in our schools and society – cyberbullying. Most of us are aware of bullying at school. We likely have talked with our children about who was being bullied, offered advice or intervened if our child was being bullied, or dealt with complaints that our child may even be a bully. This type of bullying, as damaging as the experience can be, is for the most part restricted to the school property or within its vicinity. But cyberbullying extends to the world, can be even more dangerous and damaging, and cannot be erased.
