Provincial Heritage Fair: PEI Home and School Federation Special Prize Winners

The Provincial Heritage Fair was held Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Confederation Centre of the Arts and we are happy to announce the winners of the PEI Home and School Federation Special Prizes, awarded to projects that “focus on the total well-being of children, including health, safety and learning.”

2017 Provincial Heritage Fair Home and School Award Winners

The PEI Heritage Fair was held May 4, 2017 and we are happy to announce the winners of the PEI Home and School Federation Special Prizes, awarded to projects that focus on family heritage.


Will Yeo, a Grade 5 student from L.M. Montgomery Elementary School presented “Yeo Shipbuilders,” a project which explored the Yeo family’s history of shipbuilding in Prince Edward Island. Will’s project well researched and clearly presented.

2016 School Bus Driver of the Year Awards

The Prince Edward Island Home and School Federation presents two annual awards to school bus drivers for their service in keeping students safe as they travel to and from school each day.  This year they were awarded to Bruce MacKay from Gulf Shore Consolidated and Ronnie Drummond from Somerset Elementary.

Glowing letters of support were included in the nomination packages for Bruce and Ronnie.  They are well known, loved and respected members of their school communities.  They take their responsibilities very seriously to ensure the safety of students.

2016 School Crossing Guard of the Year

For the first time, the Prince Edward Island Home and School Federation presented a School Crossing Guard of the Year Award.  The inaugural award recipient, Shelby McInnis, works at Souris Regional School.  A special celebration was held on Monday, May 30th during Parachute Safe Kids Week which is being celebrated acrosss Canada, May 30 - June 5.

Kim Crozier, 2016 Extra Mile Award Winner at Queen Elizabeth Elementary

The PEI Home and School Federation recognized Queen Elizabeth Elementary School teacher Kim Crozier with its Extra Mile Award this morning in a ceremony held at the school.

Ms. Crozier was congratulated on her honour by English Language School Board Trustee Ricky Hood, by PEI Teachers Federation President Bethany MacLeod and by Queen Elizabeth Elementary Home and School Co-chairs Bev Campbell and Darby McCormick. Student Liam Walsh read a note on behalf the students of the school, and Principal Rodney MacArthur added his congratulations.
