Press Release: Heber Ross, Cardigan School Bus Driver receives award
The Prince Edward Island Home and School Federation presents a School Bus Driver of the Year Award to Heber Ross who drives for the Cardigan Consolidated School area.
Mr. Ross is a dedicated, patient school bus driver. He has transported many children to and from Cardigan Elementary for over 35 years and has never been known to utter a reprimand or harsh word. He has a reputation for being kind and enjoys greeting each child every day with a friendly smile.
His attention to safety during trips or when children are hurt, is exemplary, and no one has ever had cause for worry regardless of the route taken, the weather or road conditions. He takes a special interest in the activities and events that each of the students is a part of and enjoys doing the extra trips, and outings.
One parent commented, “Heber is a warm, friendly, kind person greeting everyone with a smile or a wave, and has demonstrated throughout his 35+year career that his job is very important and he takes great pride in it.”
“Sometimes the little kids on my bus will slip and fall and scrape their knees. He always knows what to do in an emergency! We are very thankful for him,” says a student.
Mr. Ross is one of our outstanding school bus drivers who takes pride in keeping our children safe as they travel to and from school each and every day,@ says Owen Parkhouse, Past President of the P.E.I. Home and School Federation.
Bus drivers are the first school employees our children see each day, and the last at the end of the day. Many children spend hours every week on the bus, and the quality of that experience makes a big difference to their lives. The P.E.I. Home and School Federation is pleased to recognize Heber Ross as one of two Federation’s 2013 School Bus Drivers of the Year.
