2013 National Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week – February 10 – 16

Parent groups across Canada are showing appreciation for school teachers, secretaries, teachers= assistants, guidance counselors, nurses, custodians and bus drivers during National Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week, February 10-16, 2013. This has been a Canadian Home & School Federation initiative for
twenty-five years.
A Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week resource page on the P.E.I. Home and School Federation=s website provides unique organizational ideas collected from our member associations in P.E.I. and across Canada. Resources include a planning checklist, media information, and tips on how to involve parents, students and community in celebrations to say thank you to teachers and staff in your school.
Two school staff members will be recognized with the Federation’s Extra Mile Award during Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week. The award recognizes individuals who exemplify going the extra mile – over and above the call of duty. Recipients will be honoured during a presentation made at their respective schools during this week-long event.
Thanking school staff is our way of recognizing the personal and professional contributions that our teachers and school staff make to our children and their education.@ says Pam Montgomery, President of the Prince Edward Island Home and School Federation. The outstanding leadership provided by the recipients of the Extra Mile Award is a reflection of the good work of teachers and school staff in PEI's school system.
