Dana Doyle receives Crossing Guard of the Year
June 16, 2017, Charlottetown —— The PEI Home and School Federation presented a School Crossing Guard of the Year with a recognition award.
Dana Doyle, Prince Street Elementary School crossing guard, received the Federation’s School Crossing Guard of the Year Award for her dedicated and responsible service in keeping students safe as they travel to and from school each day.
Students expressed their appreciation for Dana by writing love letters to her saying “Dana is the best crossing guard in history! You are a loving friend inside and out.”
It is important to highlight the work of crossing guards. They are the unsung heroes of the public education system, working outside in all types of weather, literally placing themselves in the path of traffic to shepherd school children. Because they work outside of the school, they are often forgotten in other recognition efforts in the school system.
“It is an honour to recognize Dana Doyle. She is a positive role model and takes her job as a school crossing guard very seriously, knowing that she has a big responsibility to keep children safe as they travel to and from school.” says Lisa MacDougall, President
